Getting seats resprung
Is it possible to get beetle seats resprung?
I love my current apholstery because it matches the rest of the interior, so i dont want to get other seats, unless it is possible to take off the
covering and put it on another set.... |

Unusual for the springs to need replacing unless they've copped heaps of water and have rusted. Usually the springs will just need resetting. If they
are stuffed you can use your existing covers on different seats. (have to be the same style seat of course). What's the problem? Yell out if you need
a hand.

Thanks Brad
Well I took off the seats a week ago and checked them out, the amount of springs in each seat is different. The drivers seat has heaps of springs,
some of which are broken. The passenger seat does not have any springs in it other than the wavy springs holding it in shape. I think i need to put in
some more links between these wavy bits, as some are missing.
It doesnt bother me much, because I have the good seat, but my girlfriend says that her seat is lopsided and not very comfortable. Come to think of
it, the upper half of my seat is a bit lopsided, the right shoulder feels like it is further back than the left.
I suppose getting some better seats and putting the covering on them is the best option in the long run. |

Good idea,
I hate to see lopsidded VW drivers and passengers...
gives us a bad name
Thats strange about the seats, My guess is that the seats are from different model Beetles.... Maybe Aussie & German?
Guessing....

I dont think we look lopsided, we just feel lopsided
Well the seats were reupholstered by a previous owner sometime, maybe the springs were shot and they took them out with the intention of replacing
them but never did it... |
