Wtd Ribbed Metal Running Board 71 Beetle (now with pics)

I am after a passenger side metal ribbed running board for a 71 superbeetle. Are ther running boards the same on standard beetles. Yes I know you can buy after market ones, but they fit like crap and this if for a Karmann Cabriolet beetle and when we bought it one was metal only. I am not sure if that means the rubber came off or if they came with no rubber. The ones you buy are ribbed rubber over flat metal. So if any one can help and has one they would like to sell ph 0402436 761 or u2u. I live in Brisbane. Pam

You don't mean the aluminium "solid" Ribbed running boards Pam..

they come as plain silver or black with the ribs black or silver..

they come from the US... One of the locals has them, and He bought them while in the US.... CIP1 sells them.. I think..

and finally.... ALL Running boards are hard to fit... I think You will find that genuine german ones are hard also....
They would be better without any slots and just drill Your own holes... the slots are terrible and stupid.....

BEST of Luck Pam..

ribbed running board

Roy, is the one you are talking about ribbed metal or ribbed rubber on top of the metal, because that is what I want and I am after a black one. My husband tells me it is not aluminium but pressed steel. Pam

ribbed running board

Ok still trying to figure this one out, the running board I have is off a factory Karmann Cabriolet that was originally imported from Germany. I am not sure if it is original or aftermarket, but not aluminimun as had surface rust underneath. Can anyone clarify if originals were metal and does anyone have a passenger side one for 71 beetle. A fella in Port Macquarie makes chequer-plate aluminium running boards.

I have seen 2 different styles (squared-off edges and round edges) at Pete Richards place. They are custom made so fit perfectly.

I can try and track down the maker ifanyone is interested.
