Roll cages
Asked this question before but can't find the thread! Who makes them and how much? Say a basic rear cage that could be added to later , ie tie into
rear chassis , front door bar etc.

Cams or similar approved, or just a cage? i have heard in brissy anyway custom offroad do some (brad price?) these are bolt in/out. i also know one
guy who will do a full cage, welded in, with removable door bars and cams approvable for approx $1100. but you must supply the car with no interior
and paint it yourself.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Bond Roll Bars, rang them last week and heading there in the new year for some work.
I did meet a guy at Westend Performance in Campbelltown that was getting some engine work done and he builds chassis and cages for drags.......I'll
get his number tomorrow.

The way things are going i feel due to wanting to run harnesses the rear seats will have to go. As i'm planning to both run it down the strip and
chase the circuit guys around a little a cage is a must and i want a decent one.
Be nice if i could get it done whilst the car is still apart.

I got my Bond Roll bars 4 point cage from Ryan on this forum. Alloy tubing and it bolts in and comes out pretty easily. Apparently its CAMS
approved. can post some pics if you want

There's a Schroth 6 point harness on ebay at the moment, I bought 2 sets recently and they were in NEW condition. This one is designed for a Hans
system (you can tell by the way the belt goes from 3" to 2" around the neck area) but would still work fine. I payed $80 each.

I thought alloy roll cages weren't CAMS approved but are ok for supersprints/track days. Anyone know y/n? I would be a shame to buy one and have to
take it out.

Iam pretty sure alloy cages are no longer appoved, yet if you had a previously approved one in, i think you a few years to chage to steel? but to my
way of thinking, if running a road registered car, i would prefer to have an alloy cage, rather than no cage.
mabye someone can answer this, what cars require roll cages for racing. Street registered don't, is it if you want o be log booked?

Supersprinting, hillclimb, regularity etc don't require rollover protection if road registered. If you wanted to race (I think it will be C3 licence)
then they would require a Cams approved rollover protection.
So If just doing the timed events as above, any protection is better than none.
Drag racing doesn't require protection unless you go under 11s I think.

Alloy cages are not cams approved,there is a romour that running hillclimbe you will need at lease half cage for rego cars this leak from cams.Bonds
rollbars do there cages from cams specs(i wouldnt use Bonds rollbars to rought for me welding second rate.)Most cages if proper done should have a
rollover protection sticker racing or road rego.Racetec mild tube is the pigs guts best way to go building a cage.Stay away from chromemolloy to
costly.To build a cage in a sportsedan nice welds cost $5500 thats tied into chassis. harnesses must not be no less then 3years old and only buy

Alloy cages are CAMS approved as long as your vehicle was log booked with one. If your vehicle does not have a log book, and you want to fit a cage,
then it must be made from steel (and comply to current requirements) to be able to run CAMS events.
Some "non competitive racing" clubs will allow you to use an Aluminum cage.

does that mean even if i want to put in a 1/2 cage to my street car , and not get it logged book, i must have a steel cage? this is the question that
i have always wanted answered.

Been thinking alot ( dangerous!) about this and think it's really down to the car you have and what your doing with it. I plan to race my Notch but
it won't be over quick , i'll only race say once a month at the drags and at a few shows etc. I'm not in for official racing , just give the car a
good thrash. End of the day it's a street car. I just want some extra protection and a simple cage is a good start.
An alloy cage that has been engineered will meet my needs , $5500 is a little OTT for my humble ride. Some decent harnesses and a good seat should
easily be enough for such a "w'end warrior" LOL !!! I'll call Bonds and see what they can do. Anyone have their number?

If you build a alloy cage now it will not be approved by cams.There was a date that cams stopped the approvel but they allow logged book cars threw
the system.Yes $5500 is a lot but its the best you can buy for saftey more then likely not needed in a road car.Boys ask the question to yourself
saftey or looks.If you build half cage just to use for street no need for cams approval but for any sort of competitive racing you will need certified
cage builder that knows his stuff that means paper work showing speci of what cage is made from etc.Ring cams all ring cage builders Meridian
