How useful are the pull down windshield protectors I see on Kombis?

Are they a must for dirt roads? What about normal roads? Where and How much. If I lost the glass from my 75 would it be hard / expensive to replace?????

Have to say I have waited 33 years for a bug to bite. Owning a kombi is IT!!!!! I doubt I will ever be without one now.

Not really a must have. Some PPL can't take having to look through the wire either, it strains the eye's a bit! If your lucky you can sometimes pick them up from the tip!
