I need to build an engine

Following my over-revving of the bug in recent hillclimb, the engine has developed a loud knock.. not too surprising.

Anyway it was basically standard 1300 with big-bore out to 1600 and a bugspray and extractors and some head work.

I have a few spare cases bored out to take a 92mm kit and have a few sets of 92mm pistons/ barrells to suit.

I was thinking of stripping the 1600 down and using the crank etc and internals to build up the larger motor ? Would use the standard rods and crank and get them balanced.

A mate has access to a counter weighted crank- but am thinking I would prefer the carbies.

Given that I already have the parts I thought this would be an economical way to go- assuming it can be done what size and sort of carbies would people recommend (without going stupid on the budget)

Any suggestions ?

I believe that the 92mm pistons will take it out to 1835- is that right also ???

Thanks for any info.

1835 is correct Peter.
What kind of heads are you running? Standard valve size with some port work or larger?
The heads dictate ther size of the carbies to a point. but it would be safe to say that 40idf webers or maybe 44 idf if you are running slightly larger heads would be the go.
The counterweight crank will allow you to rev the engine higher without damage.. something to consider.
