Chucka Chucka Chucka noise from gear stick as I drive. What is this noise???

As I cruise in 4th there is a rapid chucka chucka chucka noise from the stick when it is left in the position it wants to sit in. Of I touch or move it slightly or rest my foot at its base the noise goes away. What is it and should I be worried??? The noise was there before the engine was rebuilt and the gear box was put back together after the main rod fell out as the engine was removed. A cir-clip was missing. As I say very light pressure on the stick and it goes away.

Any help will be much appreciated. Ta

Yes, hopefully its the small nylon bush that is under the gear shift lever and holds the LONG shaft in place....
It costs under $10 and is fairly simple to replace...

The main thing to do, before undoing the 2 gearlever shifter bolts is mark the 2 plates with a white marker pen, so You will know where they go when its time to install them again...
otherwise You won't know where the gears are....

Anyone with experience can setup the gearshift adjustment for You.... if You have problems...
