Whats wrong with the one you have ??

If its cut bad then find a wrecker and ask if you can take it out yourself.

dont believe that theres any new ones around

I know there is a place that sells new wiring harnesses for vws (along with many other older cars). I have the link on my home pc so will post it here when I get a chance to have a look at it in the next couple of days. From memory they are around $300-400 but don't quote me on this!

I used a harness from a '74 kombi wreck, was nice and long, gave me a few extra wires for the Aircon, oil temp, oil pressure gauge and cutout switch etc.
BTY I had to have a new harness, the car (my avatar) was burnt out before I purchased it. The brass inlet tube into the carb fell out and wooosh! not a pretty site.

I believe West Coast Metric sell wiring harnesses for early Beetles, but I dunno about Superbugs. In any case, they are for left-hand-drive cars, and won't fit properly.

Remaking a wiring harnass from scratch is one of life's great adventures....

Yeah, what a joy. My first time was converting an Austin 1800 from a generator with positive earth to an alternator with negative earth. I should have used a stock loom off a later model, it would have saved a lot of frustration. :o

$453 for an L bug wiring harness (complete). Just for your info:

http://www.vinwire.com.au/r_w_list.htm

I guess your going to the wreckers - or do it yourself - probably save a heap of cash and still have peace of mind that you have new wires/connections etc etc
