Matra

that is VERY interesting, cause Shannons wouldnt insure me unless i kept my car in a locked garage.
Now i have a lockable garage at my place out the back, it is just that we did a extension across the 6' wide drive way cause we never use it anyway.
Do you have a lockable driveway?

Insuring under your parents name is ok when you live at home - but it amounts to FRAUD when you live at another address.
This leads to your claims being refused, and you end up in an even worse situation than i am.
And also - do you guys realise the amount of mods on my bug?!?!? :o

My old bug used to be insured with Shannons UNDER MY PARENTS NAME WHEN I LIVED AT HOME and STILL cost me $1500 a year, with a frikin huge exces...Even then they probably would have refused a claim because of the extensive mods! I know shannons are good - but they arent that good!

AAMI third party property insurance will cover you up to $3000.00 against an un-insured driver if you are not at fault.....but they MUST be un-insured.

Yeah thats right Mr BubbleHead - most TPPD policies work that way including mine.
The problem is you have ot be able to give the FULL NAME AND ADDRESS of the at fault driver AND they HAVE TO ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR THE ACCIDENT....:(

Time goes on and these bastards could be fixing their car - then i wont have a leg to stand on...

Locked Driveway

The car is usually kept in a security carspace un the units where I live. I parked it outside that night as a one off. (If they asked I was going to say I moved it out there that morning -crash was a 6-20am).

Yep your right Shannons will only insure you if you have the car in a garage or locked driveway at night!

Cheers

Steve

True Fatboy - i dont know how well that would stand up in court but its something...

Dave - i know your car.
I know you even if you dont realise it...
:P

My mods are a lot more noticible to the average person than yours.
Still doesnt solve my prob of being under 25 and not living at home.
Thanks anyway....

Reckon I can beat anyone for diabolical insurance rates.

1993 - UK
24 yr old living in Moss-Side Manchester
Occupation - Pub landlord (25% loading for that)
Car Ford XR2 (Nothing like the aussie one - more of a flash laser) - No mods!
3rd party only (No fire / theft)

Total was ~ (hey wheres my pound sign - stupid keyboard) 2300 pounds (ish)

Hi Quick,

I've tried ringing some mates to see if they can do a trace for you but aparently they can get into seriious **censored** for it.
However they were pretty adamant that although your insurance company will tell you you have to provide a name that you can just provide them with the rego and the name of any witnesses (including the guy from here ?) and if you shout loud enough at them they will deal with it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Dave - now i know you are joking :o

Fatboy - thanks for trying anyway.
I actually work for the insurance co that my car is insured with - unfotunately i know they wont do anything till i give them the full name and address of the driver/owner of the car AND they admit liability...

Im working on a few leads at the moment... Hopefully something will come of it...

BTW - that insurance is a ripoff! But then what insurance isnt?
