home made muffler

i dont know if this is the right place to be posting this but here goes anyway.

after not being able to move my bus because it has no muffler and a failed attempt to borrow a muffler from hott rod matt because the flanges are different and it didnt fit (thanks anyway matt) i decided to have a go a building one up myself. after finding a nice snug fitting stainless baffle?? i set about buying some different bends made out of stainless aswell, after getting the bits needed i made up a stainless flange and used my stick welder with stainless rods to weld it up , i am suprised and happy with the results so far so i thought i would share a couple of pics .i think at the end of buying all the bits its costing around $250 , i am not sure if thats expensive but the results will be a stainless muffler that will sit out of site and out of the way for a lowered bus . this is how far it is at the moment , any comments on what not to do will be appreciated
cheers darren

thanks, i only polished up the front of the tube where i welded the 2 bends together in the middle, its where it can be seen on the car trying to keep the strength in it.
wasnt sure about how stick welding would go with thin stainless but it worked a treat

twoguns ,yep i am expecting it to change colour so i probably going to get it ceramic coated aswell , but anything is better than that rust colour that comes out on most vw mufflers , i think its because they are so close to the engine , thats why they get so hot

the muffler i am using is ?????? there is a brand on it but its already on the car i finished it today , i think it took a total of 2 hours to make it up and a total cost of $250 . all i need to do is make up a support to stop it bouncing around (its not that bad ) but i will do it just to be sure.

i will take a couple of pics tomorrow the exhaust tip comes out between the rear drivers side wheel and bumper, its totally out of site except for the bend as shown in previous pics where it goes back under the bus and from the side where the tip- comes out.
its so satisfying when it all works out the only thing is it is almost to quiet now , but when the carbies open up it still sounds really nice and clean
happy days
cheers darren
