Removal of broken studs?

G'day,
I was just pulling off a heat exchanger today because of an exhaust leak and carelessly broke 2 studs that atttach the heater box to the cylinder head. What's the best way to get the suckers out? Drilling......
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Dustin
P.S It's a type 4 engine with the exhaust ports underneath the heads.
