I removed mine. The only real affect you get is a bit more front end body roll through cornering. Nothing to really worry about though. Removing the sway bar make them handle off road. Independant suspensoin on the front basically.

The front sway bar is so pathetically small you don't really notice it's not there. Just a little more body roll.

Removing it gives more axle articulation. Have a read of Jamox's baja rebuild post. The sway bar is best used as a tie rod reinforcement.

Hmm........

Is removing the bar an irreversable process ?

My Bug is used mainly on road (well when the engine is finally right) but i am starting to think about trying it off road a bit.

Also does anyone know good area's around perth ? for a bit of fun
:vader

No

YOu can take it on and off without to much hassle if you want. Most of the clamos are pretty stuffed so buy some new ones if this is your plan.

You don't need it anyway.

yeah I saw the weird 3 wheeler ones.

I remember I had to use my credit card to put a pretty big deposit on the scooter. I said to the guy "where am I going to go anyway, it'd be a slow trip across the Nullabor and I don't think I have the fuel range". He didn't see the funny side of it.
