Have a look at my new baby....

My bf and I just bought a 1969 bug tonight and it's lovely :) Her name is Daphine lol cute eh? So now begins the construction over the next 3 months. We are going to rub it back to bare metal, paint it metallic/pearl pink or pearl white, do a custom interior, put 17" rims on it, nice exhaust :)

I will be sure to post process piccies on here for you all to see :D If you have any advice or know of places to go I would love to hear it! I found an awesome place today in archerfield next to QLD paint supplies called, VW and Volvo specialised, really helpful.

Welcome to vw ownership! It really is addictive :thumb

One piece of advice though (Especially when you plan on taking it back to bare metal and running 17in wheels (or any mods for that matter))......expect the unexpected! Estimate how much that mod/change/paint will cost and double if not triple it.....work out roughly how much time it will take and triple that too.

Not to be pessimistic, just realistic - there are always hidden problems/challenges lurking whenever modifying.

On the other hand, restoring such a beautiful bug will give you great satsifaction and fulfillment that it is all worthwhile in the end. ;)

this is excelent advise, personaly i do the same thing. but after ive trippled my budget and time, i work on a perpetual "2 more months ( or 8 weeks sounds closer), and another $500 should finish it off":D
personaly i wouldnt go back to bare metal if you dont have to

think i have too...the darn thing has hidden treasures everywhere, and since i plan to make elton a hot bug...i have time on hands, as i'm getting edith the flutterbug from mountain bug for my daily.

but now i'm getting off daphine

she is a really nice bug...but triple budget and time. then it's be about right...lol

haha 28 pages!?!?! lol ahh well :P I think I will have to come up with a name a little more funkier hey. Foxy D or just 'D' sound really good. But I know what you mean about price and time. We have a long road ahead of us and I guess when we start stripping the interior we will better know about the overall condition. The reason we are hoping it will only take 2 months is because my bf only works fri, sat and sundays. So he will have during the week...

But we will see :D

yeah looks good!

i would save my money on the paint job leave as is, looks like the paints good anyway and get some nice rims and lower it a bit maby, u could even get some blanks and change stud pattern and get some really nice rims all for less than painting
