a death in the family
I finally got around to stripping a kombi that has graced my front yard for about 18 months. Yesterday it left on the back of a truck headed for the
VW graveyard in the sky (well No.6 blast furnace more likely) My poor 4 yr old was devestated. "what if we forget it" she said. Told her
that we have photos so we wont forget. But she couldnt look as it drove away. Cried for about 20 minutes until I stuck a photo of it on the wall and
gave her a sherbet cone.
If she's that attached to a kombi that she rode in maybe twice what the hell will it be like when the dog goes! Strange how she wasnt concerned
about me "breaking" (wrecking) it but throwing the leftovers away was so traumatic.
RIP bluebus

Nice story Chris.
It's a shame to see another aircooled vw going to the great scrap yard in the sky. But no body else will do anything with it.
It couldn't made a great (but ugly) cubby house. Or even a tree house, that would be funny.

Yeah. Although it looks pretty good in the pictures, there was way to much rust in this one. In 10 years time maybe it would be a resto candidate.
Since its not a split nobody would be interested in it today.
Cubby house already taken care of. $1500 worth custom built coolabah cubby, extra length and height.

It must be nearly time for you to buy a camper then!
It's always a pity to see a VW go to scrap, regardless of whether its a 'sought after' model or not. I still haven't been able to bring myself to part with my square, even
though I've stripped it and chopped it.

It doesnt worry me if any VW goes to scrap. Better to be melted down and recycled than to rust away in the long grass. It just worries me that it may
come out in a coil bound for Holden or Ford. I'd much rather it go to a baked bean can or even a pet food can Something useful, know what I mean?
