plug welding small rust holes?
Ok , would it be acceptable or possible to repair 2mm diametre rust holes by plug welding the holes?
I want the repairs to last but the amount of rust is minimal and in an akward area.

Is the panel rusting through from inside?
If so the panel may be too thin to weld to.

No it is not rusting from the inside , it looks as though is was caused by poor preparation from a previous respray.

Definately acceptable to zap it up with a mig and knock the weld back with a grinder.
Placing wet rags around the area when welding will prevent the heat from spreading, keeping the repair area small and the panel from warping.

For such small holes, solder it. Much less heat, so there's very little chance of warping the panel. The instructor at the hobby panel beating
course I'm doing swears by it, and he's a pro.

My Son Brazed the chrome strip holes up in My beetle...
I also had two small holes under the rear window rubber that he brazed also....
Solder would do a similar job.....
although You still have to heat the panel up to solder it.....

be careful with brazing stuff due to the dissimilar metals causing rusting. just a thought
