Yes It was a good day for me, ran a best of 12.89 @104.6 mph, but also split and oil cooler on the 2nd run which required replacing.
Big Thankyou to Mike from Custom Bugs and Busses for going back to the work shop and getting me one, and delivering it to the track. and Henry for
helping me change it.
Here are some pics.
In the staging lanes.
1st run against a rotary Mazda, Beetle was much faster off the line but at the end it so close I couldn't tell who got to the line 1st,
repairing the split cooler.
Macca Smith's brown Beetle, had some fun races with Macca in Qualifing, but he had a problems in the top end of the track.
The pits, trying to get things back together before qualifying finnishes.
The busness end of Macca's car.
The end of the day, and still in one piece!!.
The best time slip,
Thanks to Ray Box and Lex Cowley for doing a great event, look forward to the next, lets get a few more VW's there.

Dave, car weighed 1850lb with me, Gear box is a 3.88 R&P with stock 1st and 2nd and 1.58 3rd and 1.21 top.
Jetting made a lot of difference in the top end, I will play a bit more with some 42mm vents
Adam, ran 20psi in the tyres, (still have stock axles) 1.7 60ft is better than the old radials, they grip nice. and my 60's were similar to Macca's
who was running slicks with 20psi.

Congrats Dave.
I also heard the LMS car did a 10 flat with a mix that was still quite fat.

10.03 is ten flat in my books.
Great effort everyone !!
Nice to see that a homebuilt motor with 2nd hand parts can still be competitive eh Dave ? (of course, it was put together by a guru though.....)
