North QLD latest buggy trip report

Northern Buggies Can Party To!!!

3rd of April, saw the Central Qld section of the Manx Dune Buggy Club run a trip up to the 4WD haven, Five Rocks. During planning we had up to 6 Buggies intending to come, but after losing Rex (Rat Bug) to other commitments, Jeff (Manx) to illness and Andy (Turbo Manx) due to rust,(he's backhalving his Buggy with an IRS rear section) we were left with three Buggies.

After leaving the servo a little later than expected with Lance (Kalita), Mike (Manx), myself (Supasports) and two Hiluxes for support I found a short cut through dirt roads which cut the trip in half. We then met up with Bob (Manx) along the Byfield Road and continued the journey past the Byfield Pine Forest, through the Waterpark Creek Camping Area and onto the road to Five Rocks/ Stockyard Point. When we reached the bottom of the sand hills we stopped to drop some air out of the tyres.

First went one of the Hiluxes, followed closely by me. About half way up, all going sweet the engine loses power, a quick check finds.....................
