Bug powered by turbo WRX motor.
Hi Guys.
I'm 18 and a uni student and i'm crazy about bugs.
My plan is to take an L Bug or Superbug and turn it into a Street regestered Circut racing machine.
I've heard about the WRX conversion that some people do and figured it would give me more than enough power.
I was just wondering how much it costs to perform the complete conversion and/ or if there is a better option.
(seen a few of you guys recomending a EJ22)
Any help is appreciated.

If you are keen, send me a u2u and I will outline the best and most cost effective way to do the conversion....I wasted quite a bit of cash on trial
and error.

I strongly suggest that u find someone with a hot beetle & go for a ride in it. If u feel u need more, then by all means do the conversion. But
seeing as u are only 18, I would do some progression with power first. It's not a put down, just a showing some concern. My motor is still running on
only the Microtech start up maps, the TD05 turbo is only running 7 pounds of boost & the car weighs 1000kg. With the whole family in the car it
walks away from wrxs & Holden utes. It's not an exaggeration.
When I was your age I had a 1640cc, it was more than enough to get into trouble with, then I had a 1835cc, 1880cc, 2027cc , 2275cc now the WRX engine.
I don't want to sound like I'm trying to put u off the conversion, I must admit, In the 14 years that I've owned my car it's now complete, but
just progress a little. A hot 1914cc will get u very impressive lap times on the track whilst begin able to scare most cars on the street.
Also, the insurance might be concern as well.
I've attached some pics of mine & Matts conversion. May give u some ideas.
regards
Jak
