HELP! Pink slips, Green slips, Blue slips oh my...
Hey Folks,
looking for anyone's insight. I just purchased my kombi, an unrego'd 67 splittie. Lovely - and I'm very happy - tho I will still have
a bunch of work to do to get her how I dream her.
I want to get her rego'd and running asap. I need a pink, green and blue slip for NSW I believe. Anyone got any advice on Insurance companies
that are friendly to kombis? as well as autoshops that are friendly to rego'ing kombis in Sydney?

Hi Steve, all I can say is you won;t get registration done unless you have apink slip and well as third party insurance (in NSW anyway). My last pink
slip I just got done at an Ultratune near my work, NRMA insures our Kombi and I don't know what a blue slip is.
Hope this helps a little

G`day Steve
If your Kombi has been unregistered for more than 3 months you will need to get a Blue slip . It is basicaly the same as a pink slip but they normally
check the car a bit more . No all places that do pink slip can do blue slips so you may have to ring around

ok so
Green Slip - Go do a seach on the internet for a CTP (compulsory third party) green slip, prices are usually around the same mark.
pink slip/blue slip - Most garages will do them
finally what you need to register the car is
-Green slip
-Blue slip (if it hasnt been registered for more than 3 months as blk56 said)
-and a certificate of registration from the previous owner or a proof of purchase like a receipt or something.

Yeah the above two are correct.
I can verify this because for some reason i keep buying my cars unregistered and going about things the hard way....
Fix it up then call the RTA and they will give you the name of a couple of AUVIS (Authorised Unregistered Vehcile Inspection Station) mechanics
(basically rta authorised mechanics) in your area.
Then call one up and book a blue slip.
Youll need to leave the car their minimum 2 hours, but usually they prefer to keep them all day.
Then when/if you pass the Blue Slip you need to go purchase a Green Slip - which is Compulsary Third Party Injury Insurance, then head off to the rta,
pay for and pick up your new plates and rego.
Then for heavens sake at least get Third Party Property Insurance for your new baby!
All cool?!?
Edit---> Oh and its not neccessary to have the previous rego papers for the car - excellent if you do - but otherwise even a hand written reciept
from the previous owner for the sale is fine. Its good to have any reciepts for the work/parts you carry out on her to take with you to the rta as
well.
You will have to pay a stamp duty at the rta when you register the car - coz it will also be transfer of ownership which is around $45 (minimum fee)
plus if the market value exceeds $3000 its about $50 for every $1000 or part thereof.
Plus tax.
Plus rego fee.
RTA SHIT ME!!

greenslip prices arent all around the same price in my experience. They can vary hundreds of dollars. Ring Greenslip hotline 1902 220 221. recorded
service. answer a few questions and it gives you about 10 different quotes. Call usually costs me about $5 but $5 well spent.
Blue slip is basically an ID and compliance check, pink slip is mechanical check.
