adjustable beam or beam adjusters?!?
hey all!
i may be dreaming here but here goes..
who has an adjustable front end!? is it worth it?
i want to jack up the front of the austrum buggy so i need an adjustable beam yeah? as in the $420 one from COR.
is their a cheaper way?
have i seen adjusters sold somewhere as a seperate item?
if so, how much, where do they fit, what do they look like and how do they work!?

Hey dude.
Welding in adjusters is deff the way to go if the beam you have is decent and you can do it yourself or get someone else you know to.
I bought mine for $10us each from Cip1
Customoffroad sells them for $80 a set (two) and I think theirs would be better quality.. (the ones I have aint that great.. cheap taiwanese)
They work by rotating the centre anchor (holds the spring packs in the front end together and anchors them in one spot on the beam so that when the
trailing arms are pushed up the spring pack twists and creates torsional spring force.)
By rotating the centre anchor upwards (adding spring pre-load) it forces the trailing arms down against the bump stops which raises and stiffens the
front end.
Heres mine anyway.. they're the thingys in the centre of the tubes.
They look crooked but thats just the crap people who made them didnt weld the adjuster bolt plates on straight. They work fine but.

We fitted a pair to Matt's Buggy and found that we also to clearance the tunnel for the tie rod on full suspension drop (removed the stock bump stops
also) and relocate the top shockie mount about 25mm rearwards. There are probably some "how to's" elsewhere on this site or the Manx Club site.

If you do not remove the bump stops you dont need to clearence the tunnel.

Bump stops suck they just limit things mind you they should be intaled on the top to limit the gard tare off factor
You only need two tools
Wd40 if it don't move and it should
Duct tape if it move's and it shouldn't

Your still higher than stock..

My Manx originally had a "normal" front end and it rested on the bumpstops. It was not high enough. With the adjusters welded in and all other mods
done it was well worth the $$$ and now is a lot higher than "stock" and can be put back to normal height if needed:thumb

cut, turn, weld, drive...
If you're serious about it being a buggy and staying a buggy, why would you want to adjust it...???
cut the locators, turn them, set it to full height, weld them back in...
If the steering hits the tunnel, hit the tunnel with a sledge hammer...
My bump stops were cut off but later replaced with ones in a more appropriate position...
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

thats not just adjusters you forgot to mention the part that
the price is for an offroad front beam with relocated shock mounts
h/d relocated bump stops
welded in adjusters
cleaned ,painted
so if you wanted just adjusters we can just do the if you want for cheaper that.
and yes you have to scolop your frame head too

Hmmm.... DIY is fun and cheap but if you are asking questions like this, maybe it's better to pay the $400 and get it done right by someone with
experience and do the R&R yourself
