Dont save...spend. As soon as you can afford the little things, then buy them and put them in the car. Project will tick along and before you know it
all you need to make it run is to put in an engine and box and thurn the key!
Do not forget cutting at rear(if any), frame to support forks,new fuel line and return, surge pot, 2x pumps, computer, exhaust, intercooler,
intercooler placement with mounts and ducting, intercooler thermos, radiator, radiator thermo fans, mounting and cutting/ducting, all associated
plumbing and piping for cooler, radiator and blow off valve, brakes and suspension, aluminium/sheetmetal work for boxing in parts of engine, air
filter, exhaust wrap, muffler,adaptor plate, flywheel, clutch and thrust race bearing, lots of wire and little coloured terminals, gearbox, hard mount
for box, engine! Thats roughly it....
Its easy to get started on the little things and is obviously quicker..because even if you get all of this at once.....I still think it would then
take 12 months. I do not know about Perth, although it would be best to keep the car registered the whole time it is off the road.

the renault gear box is longer than the porsche box there are more performance parts for the porsche box made in oz . early porsche 930,s had a 4spd
g50 box due to the turbo being able to stretch its legs .I was quoted $5000 to build a ssp vw box to handle 300hp . I can buy a 915 box in very good
condition for $3200 from centre of drive shaft to bell housing 8mm longer than vw and centre of driveshaft to end of box all up 150mm longer than
vw.if you want 300hp at the wheels your not going to drive it like a stocker .and the 4spd g50 is shorter than a 915box.

Hi
My gearbox is still for sale, I beleive that its at high end of strengh that can be acheived with type 1 box, it would cost $6000.00 to build this box
now. Im reluctant to use this with my new Subaru powered car, Im going to build the chasssis around the gearbox so I dont want to base all work around
a stock transmission shape, then if it fails I would have to cutup the car again for my next transmision choice.

bellhousing for UN1-5
Hi,
the gearcase of the UN fits between the forks of the beetle. I´m preparing a bellhousing for this gearbox at the moment (casted). It will have
adaption to Subaru and to VW/Porsche. Axle flanges are made as well.
Unfortunatelly the UN is very long, but if you want to drive with hight torque engines there is hardly any better gearbox. It´s very often been used
for kitcars with V8-engines and torques of 400 Nm and more.

Hi Anthony,
THis is a little off topic but is the engine that u have out of a series IV rx7, the one with the factory intercooler on top of the engine similar to
the Pulsar GTI-r. If so, have u thought how u are going to get cold air to the intercooler? I've read several times that the factory intercooler is
quite inefficient, so putting it in the back of a beetle makes it worse? Have u thought about going water to air?

yes jak i have considered going water to air intercooler. seems the most likely option.
i AM going the series IV 13bt as it is the one with the decompressed rotors.
however the turbo is shit on the series IV so probably going just a series 5 stocker for the time being..

Have you got your radiator in yet... I have a brand new Dewalt angle grinder that goes in one hand and after drawing a few guide lines with a magic
marker, I then pick up the other weapon of choice....an air compressor run hack saw. When it doubt, just cut it out! Even if you take out a bit too
much, it will just make you lighter!
