Hi everybody,
Good to see so many people turned up at Bulli today, dispite the bad weather.
It was really good to meet some of you guys in the flesh.. so to speak. I had some great chats got some good advice and met some really nice people
and of course saw some really great VW's of all shapes and sizes.
I have said it before & i am sure i will say it again .... VW people are the best kind of people to know.... WOO HOO !!

heeey cool. My kombi finally made it into pictures. And it is now worth more money. From now on its HellbusII, trophy winner at Volksday '03.
What did I win? Dog of the day. How rude. I was expecting it though. There was only 2 bent cars there and mine was most bentest. And the guy
presenting told me it was a good engine as he handed it to me. I gotta say this though... my kombi aint as ugly as the trophy it won. A tappet cover
is not a good look ClubVW Illawarra.

funny story....
the third pic in the last set. That car was parked opposite me. A guy with wife n kid walks past and stops. Points to the carb crossbar and states ...
" see that? its a stabiliser for handling. You need it for racing "
I wonder why if you've got absolutely no idea, why you would open your mouth only to prove it.
It was one of the highlights of my day actually. Gave me a grin and something to talk about.

Yep, really great day we were in orange camper with Chrome hubcap on spare wheel parked next to the really low black Kombi with white stripes. Which
car was yours Chris? Saw Daves car but didn't know what he looked like
I should point out we did not get there until 11.30 as our kids paper runs all I wanted was a matchbox Kombi & a Camper step but there was nothing
left by the time we got there
Kim,
I had a look in the engine bay & we have one of those stabilizers - great idea & works well too

I went down for a couple of hours. Although it was great to see a fair few cars get down there, the rain was getting to me in the end. One of my
favorite parts of any show, is walking around the parking lot and checking out the rides until owners start looking at you funny....I picked up
bargain for our Kombi. It was an n.o.s sui-side airduct/armrest. I got it from that nice bloke with the blue Splitty!
Sat in next to Boris for a while and listened to Greedy's explanation of his supercharged Kombi...

I thought it was a great day - the rain just gave it character. Those of us who remember the first Nationals in 1988 will understand!
I thought I was ripped off - Walker was one of the judges and penalised my Kombi for having water on the floor inside (I left the roof vent open). And
he never bought me a beer, the cheap bugger.
We weren't wearing Aussie Veedubbers shirts because we were wearing Club Veedub shirts!

the teele & white comes from the central coast of NSW and was purchased as a one owner car before undergoing a full resto. the resto was done
about 5 years ago and is one of the fine fleet of classics from the Volkswagen Histoical Society.

Hi Kim, yes the white camper is mine. Those three drops of water cost me a tappet cover trophy!!!
Actually I rather like that idea. It makes me wonder what other VW engine parts could be used on trophies, cleaned and painted of course.
