Interesting Old Photo, found in Pub
During Last years Kidney Foundation 4wd run, we stopped in a pub at Stonehenge, Qld (not sure if thats how it was spelt). On the wall was this
Picture. The Publican allowed me to take it with me then post back to him later.

You would need to look closer at the markings on the car. It COULD be 1955 - Laurie Whitehead's VW won the only trial that year, which was the
Redex. It finished at Parramatta Park in Sydney.
The two leading VWs of Whitehead and Eddie Perkins had been penalised in Perth for chassis framehead cracks, and there was some doubt over the winners
for several weeks after the trial ended. There were protests and counter protests by several teams - the VW drivers, several Peugeot drivers and one
of the Vanguards, who all had similar penalties. Eventually CAMS upheld all protests and Laurie Whitehead's VW was declared the winner, but it
was several weeks after the finish.
If it isn't 1955, then possibly it is the 1956 MobilGas Trial (won by Eddie Perkins' VW), or the 1957 Ampol Trial (won by Jack
Whitter's VW), or the 1957 MobilGas Trial (won by Laurie Whiteheads's VW), or the 1958 MobilGas Trial (won by Eddie Perkins' VW). So
many wins!
