Yes, no lesbians, which is a crying shame. There *is* a gay sub-plot between Sgt Gilmore and < deleted > but I didn't tell you that. Just in case there's just too much gayness (tv producers hate that), < deleted > gets married to < deleted >, so he's not really gay, and < deleted > didn't get into her panties after all. So don't read the character bios. It gives away at least the next twelve months worth of stories.

Ok will do that.

Missed the Bill again tonight. Busy watching my Valentines day present "Eye of the Storm" 2 tape Video Series" and lost track of the time as you do with any good Documentary.

Yeah the lesbi sup plots seem to be coming into every thing at the moment. It like the sanctions have been lifted on Gay story lines and so let all try one.

The kids at school treat it all as a joke as kids do but little do they know that a significant proportion of their peers are struggling with the straight stereotype they have been force into. Lead to some interesting conversations which I have to tippy toe around at times.

Have to get with the times now days. My daughter has had half of her group of friends, male and female, 'come out' over the past two years. Bridie goes to the gay clubs to check out the new boyfriends of her best friend.

My new manager is gay, and I went in the Gay Pride march with friends of a friend, handing out Motorfrenz pamphlets along the route.

Bronze can relate because Bridies closest friend did not come out until after high school because he was getting harassed by some guys and he didn't want Bridie getting upset or too involved in it. She is a champion of causes and her friends and she would have given those guys some grief. Danny just wanted it all to stay quiet and to deal with it.

Funny you should say that. It took me a while to come to terms with my own sexuality. When my brother came back from Korea, he had a little secret, and I seriously thought he was gay, which would have crushed Mum as I wasn't out then, but it was going to come out sooner or later. But it turns out he rode a scooter there.

When I started coming out to my friends at 23 as bi, they didn't believe me but basically accepted my annoucement. I didn't lose a single friend, which is excellent. Had a few problems with my parents, but they're over it now, I think. I've done the entire activist thing, got over it. I've marched (or rode on the back of a truck) in the Mardi Gras with the AusBiNet crowd a few times, had a ball, and got on with my life.

Basically, I don't bother telling anyone now unless they specifically ask or really need to know as it's basically irrelevant to my daily life. I'm comfortable, I'm out to those who count (my cats, most of my friends and family). I must admit I've been slack in telling everyone I've met in the last few years, but realistically, unless it comes up in conversation, I really just don't see the point in yelling it from the rooftops any more.

I just wish there was even more acceptance than there currently is. I wish Bronze didn't have to tip toe around with his students who may be having questions one way or the other, but with the totally unfounded hysteria surrounding male teachers in schools, I can understand why all teachers have to be ultra careful. It's still silly though.

Why I have straight man's lesbian affliction, I've no idea. I know deep down at an intellectual level that my lesbian friends aren't suddenly going to change camps. Visceral thrill of the impossible, perhaps?

Perhaps the male attraction ( obsession ) with lesbians is some kind of genetic / instinctive part of being male :)

God knows it gets us all watching :)

Yeah it a hard subject to broach in school. Sexuality is easy enough to talk about at school and in class. It is a valid point of discussion in Performing arts and the Social Sciences. One would expect that it would be discussed more in Drama but it actually is more of a topic with geography students as they tend to be more naive.

The reason I have to tip toe is child protection. I have done four courses - all compulsory in the last three years. Each has their own montage of horror stories. I am in a rather dangerious position as a Drama teacher. Geography is ok as their are 50/50 boys girls and plenty of neighbouring classes running at the same time. With Drama I'm in a windowless room with generally 20 girls and 2 or 3 boys. It's dam hard to teach at secondary level when you basically cannot touch students and you have to get two student to demonstrate what it is you want from the rest of the class. The students understand why which is good. Tertiary teaching and TAFE is much easier with adults, still have the same issues but with adults who want to be there.

A different perspective

Well now here's a different perspective on things. I am a student at a notable Grammar school in Victoria, and we are a boarding school. I live locally and am hence, a day boarder. I leave home at 7:30am and I leave school that night at 8:30pm. For us it is a long day. Teachers and boarders co-exist on campus. For some reason rules seem to always change for us. For example, if my P.E teacher gets fed up with us, he will give us a dead arm (guys only usually...caus we are supposed to be pains). BUT...it keeps us in line and under control. For teachers that aren't inclined that way, they will just give us either a labour detention (up to 6 hrs) or an academic detention. In a boarding environment the teachers have to be a bit lenient at times and the way they act helps us "engage" ourselves with them.
