What happened to Wally? I didn't see him in the Qualifying list.

Here is the short of the long.

The Winternationals runs a slightly different class structure. Wally normall runs Super Sedan. However, for the Nationals, Super Sedan must run electronics - Wally doesn't have this, so they put him into Super Street. The problem is in Super Street you can't run faster than 11secs, but they didn't tell Wally this, so the two gentle 10.6's on Friday did not qualify us. When someone did tell us on Frdiay night, we ran with one foot on the brake and qualified with a 11.45 on the last run Saturday morning.

But wait, there's more. Then this morning, Sunday, they put Wally back into Super Sedan, because although it's a Nationals, it's still and ANDRA event. They accepted Wally's 10.6 on Friday as qualifying. As we speak Wally has just won his first round against a Ford Capri.

The joys of racing.

Wally made it through to the 3rd round then cherried himself out. Was having a good run until then.

The crowd and commentators were right behind him.

Just goes to show that a well prepared budget racer is still good value, and great for attracting sponsors. And talking of sponsors, Wally ran under official Volkswagen colours for this event, securing himself VGA backing for the rest of the 2005 season.

Here is a pic of Wally running under Volkswagen colours. This certainly made the team look and feel more like a VW race outfit. It was a good weekend.

Also a Formula Vee racer.
