Mate do not be fooled on how it looks on the video. I must agree if I saw this video with out seeing the hills at brads place in person i to would think they were easy. But believe me some of the tracks are VERY steep and I doubt that any 2 wheel drive will ever get up some of them. But like Tim when my car is going I to am going to give them a go. It is the old saying i guess put up or shut up.

Just some info for all the keen offroaders...

there haven't been any manx club runs because no-one in the club has organised one, they all just sit around and complain that no-one organises any runs.

Posting that your going somewhere and others can come on the forum doesn't count as organising a run either.

You need to contact the events co-ordinator (listed on the club website), and he will then notify the webmaster and magazine editor so the run can be advertised on the coming events page and in the magazine.

If your really keen you can go to the AGM next month and elect to be the new events co-ordinator.

I can tell the whinges to shut up because I have organised a few runs in the past so I do my part (I organised the first 3 club runs). The last one was blackduck in may 2004 which everyone was welcome to come to and challenge each other on the hills;
http://www.netspot4u.com/~manxclub/gallery/BlackDuck2004
there are videos and pics on that site, again some hills are very steep.

Most of the previous runs have been organised by only a handful of members, and unfortunately nearly all of them (but me) are either between cars or in the process of modifying / rebuilding their cars.

I haven't organised a run this year for 2 reasons, 1 - other people should do something, and 2 - I have been flat out with work and a new house lately so haven't really been that motivated. The last camping weekend kurt and gunter told me about was on the night of my house warming party so it didn't work out real well.

So that's my bitching for today. If you want a run then organise one. :) If everyone organised 1 event every few years we'd have heaps of events. :)

I have a question with the mazda convertion on the buggy and wes's baja -
Is there much weight difference between a DP 1600 vw engine and the mazda engine and if so does it make the handling any "twitchier" , its just that in the vid the buggy seems to be riding quite high in the front end compared to the arse end :o

It normally sits level, but when you accelerate with that much HP, and when going up very steep hills, the rear will certainly squat.

The Mazda engine is 176kg, measured complete using a load cell. So it's like having an adult sit on the engine cage of your current VW engined vehicle. The main difference I noticed in it gives the car much more grip / traction than it had before.

I noticed a worse effect on body roll and handling when I installed the 2 inch lift kit than when I put the V6 in.
