harnesses
Iam looking fo some harnesses, and i have some questions. They are to be used in my beetle (which will be going on club rego next month and only used
for track work club runs etc). next step will be a half or full cage towards teh end of the year.
Events are mainly
-motokhana
-khanacross
-autocross
-dirt sprints
-some sprints and an odd hill climb
-also they will be swapped into the passneger seat of a mates evo8 for qld challenge, and indy rally etc.
1- What have different people found with different brands?
2-should i bite the bullit and go 5 point and have the life restricted, or go for a road legal 4 point.
3- can you get clip in 5 point?
4- and can i run 5 point with std belts also in the same car?
6- good palce in brisbane to buy them? (revolution, autobarn, KCF rally sport, any others?)
7- can i run a 5 point as a 4 point until the seats in the evo have been modded?
any otehr things i should look out for?
Cheers

Bix,
I am taking my racing herbie along to the RACQ show this Sunday at Tennyson (Brisbane) with some Porsches to advertise the Historic Races in August.
Pop along and have a look at the cage and harness set-up. It should be what you are after.

Bix, just an FYI - depending on the class of racing you're looking at, you may have specific harness and rollcage requirements that you've got to
adhere to, especially if the event comes under the umbrella of CAMS.

In most cases my car is classed as road registered and as such roll cages and harness, are not required.

I found from doing rallies that a three inch harness 5 point is great for holding you in. I was no ware near as stiff and sore after doing a rally
with good belts. 3" 5 point belts are just not the answer though. A good quality seat will give heaps of support too. There is no point in spending
the money for the good belts unless you get a really good seat as well.
You can get 5 point clip in harnesses and you can also have 5 point harnesses with a standard seat belt but if you are going club/rally rego, why
bother with the standard seat belts? You can also run 5 points as 4 points.
As far as places in QLD to get this stuff i have nfi as I live in Sydney.
