Update on my smash
Well a month ago i posted up about my baby being smashed in a hit and run.
I've been calling the cops a bit, but have been really tied up for the last week and a half and hadnt harrased them:P. I finally get five minutes
and call today, speak to the officer in charge who says she 'tried' to call me (mobiles on 24-7)
Anyway turns out the car that hit me was 'stolen' and not reported stolen as the owner had some SNAFU with not changing the rego papers over
when they purchased the car 3 months ago!!!
Im sooooooooo angry, and so disillusioned with the people in this world.
I now have to pay for everything myself and wont recieve a cent of compensation for an accident that was not my fault.
I dont have the money for proper repairs.
My dad and i will be attempting to take the parts we need from the same model donar car i have in my garage, and fitting them onto my car, but the
panels will have to stay in primer until such time as i can afford to get them sprayed properly (which will be a looooooooong time).

Thanks guys.
Craig - i dont know what colour my car is and i have a feeling its a one off that will be hard to match.
I have to investigate but i have to say i have not seen an exact match out on the streets.
Have a look at my site in my sig below if u want an idea.

Yeah its the silver one.
Ive got a replacement flair, ive got a donar car with same guards, same model etc.
Its hit in passenger side front guard, steering arm is bent, and the suspension is bent back and sitting against the boot.
My dad is pretty cluey, and we should (i hope) be able to do the steering etc as long as we dont run into any major probs.
I can get my mechanic to check our work over when its done, then go get a wheel alignment.
The paint is the expesnive bit that we cant do ourselves. Well we could but i want it a proper finish to match the rest of the car, as the previous
owner has spent some time and a fair bit of cash getting a good job done of the paint.
The boot is also marked and scratched, and the rear guard on the same side is cracked.
The headlight may be a problem, not sure yet, ill prolly have to leave a std one in for now, but it did have an aftermarket one fitted that i think
will be pricey. Im not even sure what brand they are actually.

If you are needing to leave the repairs in undercoat till you get the paint { I Know it costs quite a bit }
Its a good Idea to give it a coat of GMH Black as its waterproof and very cheap whereas undercoat is not, of course if its fibreglass is not a rust
worry but metal with Woodridge racing Grey {undercoat} will rust. and you dont want that.

Steering is back together except for two small parts, and a wheel alignment.
The accident has messed me up financially, having to put the old 72 back on the road, and so i dont have the $$ to get my motor back.
I still have some straightening of the boot to do to line it up right again, and fit another guard and another light in.
Im looking at putting my 1916cc out of my 72 into it and getting it back on the road, unregistering the 72 again, and using the refund money and
anything i can get for selling bits of the 72 to get the cash for my engine.
Paint will have to wait a fair while...
Thanks for the tip Herbie - most of it is fiberglass - but the boot area will cop some GMH black
No your not being overly cynical Lugnuts, the parents covered for the kids and they got off scot free...

Now that ... "parents covered for..."
really annoys me.
If you had more money , it would be good to bring them all to justice but no use in your situation cause only Lawyers would win and you would be worse
off....STINKS..
Keep up the good work,
i'd hate to see you changing motors back and forth - wouldnt it be better to save up and get Your Best motor in again and sell off the 72 if you
dont want or need it.

If you are Insured?????? Just let your insurance company fight it out with the registered owner. If your not, then (Why Not?) you should still have a
case but will need to fight it out yourself.
Are they insured? If they are then their insurance should still be paying, check with a solicitor.

They dont have to pay for a damn thing as the car was 'stolen'!
Im only insured TPPD - ive had this argument before so just know it costs too much to insure this car comprehensively at my age.
My dad and i are going to swap the engines over at his place down the south cost - so it should onyl cost a weekend and some elbow grease.
I cant stand my 72... its a mess, it leaks, its rusted, it needs some new steering stuff as well as a hundred other things, and i dont want to waste
money on it that i could be spending on my 74L..
