a project I bought a while ago, 9 seat microbus, been unregiistered for 10 years. At the moment still cuttin all the paint back on the roof. this will be a back to bare metal on the outside due to poor quality paint. inside is still in the thinking stage.

Yeah i remember that bus. Was at a wreckers near me. then he got peter at VW country to sell it for him. It sat outside for years that van. The guy has heaps more vw's including splits but most are way beyond repair, like to move it he just put a fork lift through the side of it. Not your a split bus panel. Nice.

He origianlly wanted $1800 for your van.

How has the lower areas of the bus stood up in terms of rust?..I know our old bus that sat outside had very bad rust, especially around the back, but from the photo yours looks pretty clean and straight. Makes me want one again. :tu:

I got it for $1200. the engine runs, rough because the rubber has spilit on the manifold so the mixture is up the creek. body is pretty straight apart form where someone tried to add a new filler door. some surface rust on almost every panel, the paint has not protected itso its down to metal and new primer. there were very few magor rust problems, spare wheel well, and a few holes in the cargo area floor. there has been some work around the windscreen that I am still checking out, but I will not have to replace any panels, just a bit of welding occasionally.
WV country have almost as much junk as indian automotive but if you look there is the occasional gem.

This will be my 4th kombi but my first since the late 80's.
spent a night reading dasdubbers epic. what an inspiration! His front speaker boxes are amazing.
