s/h stock dual carbs - how much?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to replace the single carb shown below with stock dual carbs before the weather gets colder. How much should I be paying for second hand stock dual carbs with linkages and everything else I need?

TIA!

I think this is in the wrong area. Maybe should move to buy/sell/swap?

So why do you want to go with twin carbs ? What are you doing with the carb setup you have ? I may be interested. I have a few sets of dual carbs if you want some. Mark

I'm told that in the cold weather I'm going to have a problem with petrol condensing in the really long intake manifolds, giving big gaps in power. I've only had my Kombi through summer, so I don't know how bad it'll be in winter but I'm already experiencing flatspotting on cooler mornings and it's only March! The single carb I've got is fine in hot weather (it loved Queensland at Christmas) but I don't think it'll do the job in Canberra winters, so I want to switch to duals.

Barry -bagnew has mail

wouldn't there be a way of preheating the air utilising some of the standard aircleaner setup?

KombiKim,
I’m not sure if that is enough. If you look at the stock single carb system, it only pre-heats the incoming air a short time at start-up. The long inlet tube is heated all the time from the exhaust. I’ve also read in the US lists that they had problems with only pre-heating the air in really cold climates (for a single carb on a type 4 motor).

thanks Andy, it is a shame really, looks like a really good setup otherwise, & you get a lot of room!
