make over

I have a 73 fast back, and am thinking of 'doing her up' as it would have been done had i lived in the 70's... does anyone have any ideas on what i could do to achieve this look... she is already a yellow/mustard color...
thanks :)

sorry, only helpful advice is to try the internet, or contact a VW club who may have photos etc.

Best bet would be to visit the Type 3 site:

http://www.vwtype3.org/

Peter (the mod here) can provide advice on modern equivalents to old paint codes.

Here's Club VW's paint codes:

http://www.clubvw.org.au/colour_identification.htm

I reckon yours is Dulux 13974.

As for how to re-do the paint job, well this is definitely the right forum. Also, check out some of the resto pics in the Members' Rides section. It has many people doing excellent jobs.

The only real advice I can give is that the end result is only as good as the prep work. The better quality the prep, the better the paint job. Painting itself only takes a short while, but it can take months of prep to get to the point where a spray gun can be used.
