1500s, here she is
hey mate here is a pic of my project.
i ordered the rest of my parts from the USA and should be here within the next week.
Just need the push button section to finish her off and then she will be a complete car.
I got told that it was a 64 when i bought it but i found out the other day that its a 62. And i am cheering because i only paid $1200 for her.

Ok. Looks like you do need that switch! I'll see if I can find a trim piece for you. How does the dash pad look? Are you using the full resto
type interior with the long armrests and wrap around dash pad? Let me know.
Maybe someone else on the forum has one hanging around without the switch.

Steve. Posted on parts section to see if some hoarder has a trim strip for you. If not I'll make a replica from stainless steel for you.
Forgot to ask. Have you got the popout rear quarters for it? No I haven't got a spare set now as I GAVE them to a guy in Melbourne who had a use
for them. There was only one rubber missing (all near new) as I wanted it for my notch. Still have spare front armrests but they do need re
-covering.
I'm not into trying to sell or hoard VW bits and would rather see them put to use to get another Type 3 on the road if I have them left over! The
only bit I'll keep is a spare NOS ignition switch/lock for the up to 63 Type 3/Imported 1500S .............. picked that up for $30. WEEP!!

hey guys, since my last post i have sussed out a push button section (thanks 1500s). I have also put the new dash in and the headlights and new
bumpers with overiders.
I also made a trip down to U PULL IT, at Elizabeth just wondering around when i came across 66 fasty. it had near brand new bumpers, exellent S&P
front seats and a hell of a lot of other stuff, (brakes, seals, TS badges, and shit loads more. i thought oh how much is this goin to cost me. I
thought about $400, so i went and got a wheel barrow and tried a little trick that my mate told me. I put ever thing small at the bottom of the
barrow, put the bumpers across the top. and put the seats over the bumpers. Anyway i took evey thing to the counter and told the guy i only had 2
front seats and the bumpers and some stuff under neath. HE said ok mate that will be $150, i was cheering. plus i knew the guy so he just let me have
the stuff underneath.

I guess Steve only thought it may cost $400, not worth $400! How many times have we bought things at the wreckers and swap meets and was guaranteed
that the part is "near new" only to find that your "junk" at home was better! A prime example is that nice shiny starter motor which you find had
been full of water at some time when you open it to double check your purchase! Had that happen at Nambucca a few years back by one of the enthusiests
at the swap meet! In the case of VW Type 3s in wreckers yards, I've seen quite a lot of small parts being just scrap at Pick 'n' Payless at
Blacktown as well as some of our VW "fanatics" destroying things such as dash pads just to get to the speedo and fuel gauge. Maybe it is best to
do as Steve has done and put them in along with the larger parts and stopping them from just progressing to the cruncher!
One of the best wreckers was a bloke named Tony when he had A.P Spares at Riverstone. Once you pulled the parts his favourite saying was "make me an
offer". In many cases his answer was TOO MUCH! No he never went broke, just got sick of pulling old cars apart!

Steve. The P/B switch is in the mail today. You didn't mention whether you were sticking with the 6 volt or changing to a 12 volt system. If you
are using 12 volts, from memory, terminal 53 and 53b are reversed with the colour coding from the old 6 volt to the newer 12 volt wiper motor. Double
check this!!!! Also, large brown wire J doesn't seem to need to be connected to anything. Once again, from memory I think it caused problems if
connected.
Good luck with the project. Will let you know what the barter at Model Flight is soon!!nn[ Edited on 19/9/2005 by 1500S ]
