well the most popular is probably "cal look"
this is pretty open, old school cal look is near stock appearance but lowered on brms/empi 5's/ sprintstars etc. Big type 1 motor in the
back.
Cal look is also the same as above but dechromed
"German Look/Euro look"
late model, dechromed, dropped on porsche or european car wheels. Low profile rubber, big porsche/brembo brakes with a big type 4 or type 1 in the
back particularly with a 911 cooling shroud.
"french look"
i think this is a style where they dechrome, lower and use graphics on their paintjob... kinda weird.

A while back there was a "resto custom" look whereby the car had stock trim interior and exterior, standard colour but usually lowered at
the front with original wheels such as brms, fuchs etc. High po engine wasn't critical and accessories were encouraged unlike cal-look where
clean lines and minimal extras were the go.
There was also a mention of "resto-cal" look but don't remember what that entailed. VW trends I think ran an article on it a couple
years back when the American's were debating what constituted what look.
Of course there is the stock look but that needs no explaining - don't know if there is a term for it though?

There's also "Surfer" (ratlike or mural, no back seat, possibly popouts or a baja-style engine cover,) and "Baja" (named
after the full bodied cars that used to be run in the Dunes at Baja {pronounced Ba-Ha} with exposed engine, cut away guards, raised suspension.
Oh, and no-one's mentioned "Sano-Resto," a restoration, but without emphasis on original parts; aftermarket parts and accesories are
common, modern technology improvements smiled upon.
And there's a local (Oz & NZ) look that I don't know of an official name for, let's call it the "Bush-basher" for now:
Full, almost stock body, raised with a hot engine, roo-bar and lights. Unfortunately dropped out of popularity again, but a lot of 'em got
around in the late 70's.
Final note: The Resto-Cal look mentioned by DasDubber was simply a name for people imitating or rebuilding the old Cal-Look cars of the late
70's - early 80's Cal-Look was, of course: Dechromed (the chrome strips were removed from the body and the holes filled, the chrome was
eliminated from the window rubbers, and, usually, "baby tornado" rearview mirrors {black, not chromed} were fitted,) "nerf-bars"
("T-bar" mini bumpers,) Exhaust cut-outs filled. "Wink" mirrors (a long internal rearview with a number of mirrors) were one of
the more popular, disco-ish and disgusting additions often seen.

wasnt there an Oz look that had the Wide wheels - flared guards,
lowered , fibre glass bumpers / air dam ,
Fibreglass running boards , roof antenna ,
with accesories like body air intakes on bonnet , ++
-Possibly absorbed by the German Look .
