My advice. Don't get a scooter. They handle badly and are gutless. Postie bikes are are one step up, and you could get an immaculate one for 2k. A very good one for 1k and spend the rest on something else. Any 250cc 2-stroke roadbike will go pretty well, but one without a fairing will be cheaper to repair if you stack it. If you buy second hand make sure you know a lot about bikes or take someone who does (same as with everything else) else there is agood chance you will have to spend a bunch of money on it afterwards. Check the trading post, there are always a few good deals there.

All this is from experience. Have fun, bikes are the best.

aaarh, the old er. unchanged since 1970 and all the better for it. you cant kill them with an axe. not pretty or fast or well suspended but will cheeply and reliably get you where you are going. there was a couple with a couple doing lazy laps of the globe on them.

edgeworks: thankyou a lot for the advice, i have been looking at postie bikes now. if i were to buy a scooter it would be a larger 250cc model, which are much harder to find (though i have found a beauty that comes with jacket and helmet).

i cannot ride a two stroke 250cc engine on a learner license, only 4 stroke 250, but i wouldnt want one anyway, like i said i want an incredibly weak bike, like scooter or postie.
looked at the trading post today, there's quite a few out there. cheers.

No worries mate. If you're going the postie bike look for CT 110. There are smaller and bigger versions but the 110 is the most common. I'd take one of them over a 250cc scooter any day.

kk youre a big lad. get yourself a yamaha xvs650. they are learner legal and a damn good ride. is a bit more than your budget, but you would be a lot happier and hell more safer.

i have a contact who owns a big bike shop, so i might be able to assist a little.
