drop spindles for beetles
Can anyone tell me if you can get drop spindles for a 74 beetle. I am planning on changing my front brakes to beetle disks also. If you can get drop
spindles can someone please tell exactly what they do and if the will have any negative effects to my car? These may sounds like stupid questions but
i am only new and just learning.
some people are like slinky's
they have no useful purpose
but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs

You must have a '74 1300 Beetle with drum brakes in the front.
Dropspindles are new stub axels with the axel mounted 2 or so inches higher.
They don't change the ride quality, just the ride height.
They sound great, but they increase you front track by about 15-20mm each side, not good if you have wide rims that just fit under the guards as it
is.
Also some have pressed in stub axels, and I have heard of some working loose. not nice!!.

With the front track being wider are you able to cut the beam down so that a wider wheel could fit underneath the wheel arch? Do you know of anywhere
that sells the spindles and roughly how much they would go for?
some people are like slinky's

and yes Dave it is a 1300 beetle with drums all round. I have had quotes from VVDS and Wayne penrose for a front disc conversion that would cost
roughly $500, and rear drum stud pattern change for around $300. Is that a good price?
