Wow, pretty impressive site!
Just be aware that those colours are for Euro and US-spec VWs. VWs sold here were made in Melbourne and the colours were increasing different as the
years went on. Dulux was the local paint supplier to the VW factory in Melbourne.
From the early 1970s until VW assembly ended in 1976, many of the colours that were sprayed onto Aussie VWs were actually Nissan colours!
A catalog of Australian VW colours (no chips unfortunately) can be found at
http://www.clubvw.org.au/colour_identification.htm

If you check the Club Veedub link I posted above, the answer is Yes it did, but only on Karmann Ghias (which were fully imported).
The locally made Beetles had a choice of Bahama Blue or Sea Blue in '65-'66, and Zenith Blue in '67-'68.
Perhaps one day Dave Birchall will lend his Australian Dulux chip sheets to Steve Carter, who could scan them and post them on the Club Veedub site.
Sounds like a good project for a wet Sunday!

that would explain something cos the guy i bought it off had a couple restored KG's so maybe he painted it like that.
But the paint looks original?
So im confused a little :cry

Hey Dave, do you have a colour chart with "Gunyah Grey" on it. The colour number is 7883.
I have been in contact with Dulux and also PPG who have bought out their vehicle paint division, all with no success.
Any help on getting hold of "gunyah grey" would be really appreciated cause I want to paint the Oval in the colour that Dad had it in
originally.

THANKS HEAPS DAVE
I really mean it.
It's important that I paint the bug in the original colour cause as a youngster I pranged Dads "pride n joy" twice. It must have torn
his heart out when he came home from a weekend away and saw what I had done to the Oval ............ twice!
The least I can do is have it painted in the original colour.
Thanks again
Steve
