Its also a 79 last of the beetle cabs, b4 the golf took over! They are the only late models actually worth some good money!

If I had loads of Cash... I would buy it...
sadly, I don't... so I won't.
funny the Generator emblem is still in the Speedo so many years after alternators were fitted. Beautiful.. I am NOT an "L" Beetle fan
either.... :thumb:thumb:bounce

I don't particularly value late verts as much as early ones. even if it was one of the last ones, it doesn't really hold much significance
for me.
even if it really is only 3300 miles original, i don't think i'd pay 25000 USD for that.

Yeah, but would you pay 25 grand for an early! Even Aust. Dollars, Or even 10 for a fully restod hardtop???
The answer will probably be no!
Not many ppl in Aust want to spend lots of cash on a VW! Simple!

i probably would pay that much if it was say a pre 68 vert with only 3000 miles on it! They are the proverbial hens teeth! especially in this
country.
Yes i would pay 10000 for an early stock ish restored hardtop or sunroof if it was absolutely PERFECT. It would be worth even more if it was all
original.
However I personally wouldn't buy a car that needed a lot of work for a lot of money because I need to use cars not collect them. I do think
that some early originals are worth that much, it's just that I would not buy them because of practicality. I need a car I can drive, not look
at.
I would pay 50000 AUD for a perfectly restored 23/21 window. It's my current dream car right now...
Other than the extremely low original mileage, the late verts aren't that rare either, there are lots and lots of them and they are all
practically the same , 1302/1303 models. There isn't that much of a demand for late verts as well.
The significance of being one of the last german one's doesnt really strike me because at the end of the day it still is a late vert that
looks and drives exactly like every other late vert around.

Well 25 grand US is around about 42500 Aust. That is alot of money for any vert, let alone a late vert, but you must remember, In the states VW are
worth alot more than here, and they will pay that much! About a year ago there was a Convertible Karmann Ghia in Vic for sale fro 42000 and that was
probably the best KG vert I have ever seen, It was a 60 model, but yet noone bought it. It is now for sale in the 20's and still has been for
sale for a while at that price!!! No Im not having a go at you personally about spending the money, Cause I dont know who you are or your situation
with money, But as a generalisation, no one in Oz will pay big bucks for a VW. You must remember, Cars cost alot more to do up, than the cost of what
they are, when they are for sale six months later...
Cheers N!

If I could afford to buy it just to look at and not drive, I would. There's probably a lot of other VWs I would buy first though....
Interesting that it was fitted with airconditioning..... in a vert!! :o

The last thing you want to do is have the top down on a 40 degree day. And when the roof is up, the roof gets really hot, so you need a/c. I loved it
in the golf! I didnt think I would use it, but it came in really handy!
Cheers N!

40 degree days are the BEST time to have the top down. If you don't have enough hair, wear a cap or a bandanna! :thumb

lol... is that the www.oldbug.com one? looks like it. I would pay that much for that one.
I do agree with you unity that VW's are more expensive in the states. Although they tend to devalue superbugs more than us. Also they are a
richer country.

BELIEVE ME, 40 Degrees, Last thing you want to be doing, is having the roof down!!! Not the burning of skin or head that hurts, its the dehidration(
i cant spell that) and sun stroke!!! Even on a hot day with the slide back roof I have on the notch it gets really hot!
