Cal look styles

Orroit, I need some help compiling a list of generally-aknowledged VW and Cal look 'definitions', if you know what I mean:
Classic Cal Look: The original from California circa early 70s - bright paint, dumped stance, no crhome, no bumpers, aftermarket wheels, big engine.
Cal-Custom: Standard style body (with chrome) maybe shaved numpers (no towel rails) dumped stance, aftermarket wheels, big engine. Can be divided into 'early' (pre 67 in Oz modelspeak) and late (68-on).
Resto-Cal: Standard body with all chrome, detailed to death, accesories such as racks and spats, standard wheels with whitewalls, dumped suspension, big engine.
Rat Look: Seriosuly farked body - rust, old paint etc, big ricey wheels, big engine
Euro look: Like a late-model Cal, but with emphasis on Porsche-style brakes, handing and grunt, Often fitted with Type 4, 2.5-litre + modified engines
Correct me if I'm wrong and add to the list!

How about :

Resto-custom - totally stock on the outside (either original or restored), mostly stock or slightly upgraded interior, high powered mechanicals.

Sleeper - as above but a bit rattier in appearance. Stock wheels and tyres. Very powerful engine. No outward sign of extra power though.

Aussie Look - flared fibreglass guards, fibreglass front spoiler and rear whale tail. Mazda or Torana tail lights, Datsun seats. Roof optional. Stock engine except for fan shroud and tinware painted in unusual, non-matching colour.

British Look - similar to Cal look externally, but with totally stock engine.

You might be right. Who knows, I don't even agree with the term 'Bay' to describe my Kombi. I thought a bay was a big area of water with fish and jelly blubbers in it.

Maybe Resto-cal and Resto-custom are the same; it might depend on whether you're talking to a Yank or a Brit. Does your VW have fenders or wings? Or mudguards?

Cal-look

What about a Cal-look with an Aussie flavour. ? Without the f/glass.
Personally I luv the Pro-stock-look
i.e like something straight of the 1/4 mile
but without cutting up the body.

What about Turbo-Look.

I tried to post my car on the Cal-Look forum but they would have a bar of it because of the turbo. They were keen until they found it had a turbo. And there second question was where is the turbo! We can't see it in the photo's! It looks cal, big motor, low, pretty much along their lines, but alas it's reliable horsepower!

If they won't have it then we must create a new class Turbo-Look- pssssssssshhhh!

I can see it now Turbo-Look, stock it looks, stock it ain't!

Get's the WRX,GTR & V8 boy's in every time.

heres my 2 cents
Cal-look: Mildly custom interior, single color paint jobs, shaved trim. Blade bumpers or T-bars, Lowered in the front only, lightweight wheels(BRM's Gas Burners, Fuch's, with big motor and trans.
Resto-cal: Lowered front stock height rear, Light wheels, restored body and interior, Big motor.
Resto custom:Fully restored car that has been lowered and accesorised(sp?) motor of usually a stock motor.
Inland EMPI Style: Fully restored car with period accessories, motor of choice, Original EMPI parts. Chrome or polished wheels (Fuch's, EMPI 5 spokes, Raders, or even BRM's or sprint stars that have been chromed)
German Look: Any year, type 4 powered, Big brakes, Big wheels, bright paint with graphics, updated interiors (carbon fiber, billet alum. etc)
Rat lood: Layed on the ground, bad paint or original paint, Motor of choice, A few choice accessories.

i hope I helped
