WOOOHOOOOO!!!!
When I was looking to buy a car for Heather to drive around in, I wanted an early notch, but Heather wanted a Beetle. Heather won.
I was chatting to an aquaintance over a couple of drinks this afternoon, and happened to mention that I was looking for a cheap beetle to drive to
work so that I can fix the kombi motor properly and not have to rush it. He mentioned that his neighbour had a two-door thing sitting under a tree in
his back yard, one of those 'projects' that wasn't getting anywhere. He wasn't sure what it was though.
We finished our drinks and went around to check it out, but the guy wasn't home. Turns out that it is an early notch!!!!!:thumb The interior
looks ok apart from sun damage to the top of the back seat, and a cracked dash. It has a scrape along the LHS and a little rust in the LH door, but
nothing too major. It's missing three pieces of waistline trim and the nose emblem, and it's carbies, and didn't have any boot hinges.
What is has got is two straight bumpers, clear bullet front indicators and an 'S' badge on the boot lid! I'm guessing it's a
1500S....
I don't to tempt fate, but it appears that there's a chance of me picking it up for under $100.... I'll post here when I find out.

Get it! They drive so much better than a bug! Thats why I drive the notch everyday, and the bug will sit there and look good!

I'll definitely get it, if the guy is willing to part with it. I've even got a 1600TP sitting in my shed ready to go in, just in case I
can't find the bits to get the 1500S running.
I'm not interested in it because it's better than a beetle though - I've owned two type 3's and now a Beetle, and I can say with
some authority that Beetles definitely handle better, although not as comfortable. Type 3's tend to be too light in the nose, where Beetles seem
to be a bit better balanced. Type three's are definitely roomier though, which is why I had them previously.
My motivation for buying it, other than for transport to work, is to complete the set: '75 kombi, '68 Beetle, and a pre-67 (I didn't
look) notch. :thumb
