Panel beating with a saucepan lid!!!

Actually I am serious. I made a version of the poor mans shrinking disk and it is amazing. I never thought a saucepan lid could be any use for anything but cooking. It is a bit slow (real slow) but I have used it to pull a couple of dents out of the floor pan of my splitting which were at least 10mm deep and over the corrugations and this think bought them up better than anything I could do with a hammer and dolly. It was also useful as some dents could not be reached from both sides by one person. I got the idea from John Kelly on this site http://metalshapers.org/101/index.shtml  There use to be a link to the poor mans shrinking disk but I couldnt find it. Any way I made mine from a stainless steel saucepan lid and a sanding disk buffer (the type that fits into a drill and holds sanding disk on with a screw Kmart$10) Have a look at the photos. It is definately worth trying if you have dents you can reach particularly on floor pans etc
Nicko
