I have a Mk 4 Gold and the CD just spits the discs back out.
Are these repairable??
or do i just put a new one in??
Would sort of like to keep it VW original if possible
Any ideas??

hmmmmm........strange!
Been a couple of days, and now the battery has died. No problems, it was the orginal battery, so near 7 years is ok
Anyway.... new battery and the CD works again
Must have been voltage sensitive

Over years of use you will find that teh mechanism will either a) go out of alignment or b) have that much dust and crap on the lense that it will
look like soup for the laser reader. It may pay to purchase a lense cleaner and run this through the unit. These work buy having a antistatic brush
which gets coated with a liquid. the liquid attrachs the dust and the bruch simple "paints" the liquid on the lense as well as wiping the now
tramped dust of the lense. They are fairly inexpensive and would be the best start to looking a the problem.
On some of teh cheaper units the suspension devices can deteriorate over time and hold the cd in a bad position (hence part of an alignment issue)
these units are easily fix with a new suspension setup but often outway the cost for repair to purchasing a new unit. Try a lense cleaner first then
move to the repair/replace option.
Cheers
