1 to 4 AV Distributor Amp - AV Expert needed...

Need a 1-4 AV Distributor Amp I think. They seem to cost abut $100.00

I've got an in-Dash DVD player (single AL/AR/Video) output to dash lcd tft monitor, 2 rear lcd tfts and stock IBM 15" flatscreen LCD is the set up. Got a Component Video/SVideo to VGA converter box for the monitor. Also running small PC/Playstation Emulator (the monitor and PC run off an inverter not 12v. Everything else is 12v.

Is the best option to use an AV distributor amp or just split the cables? Need the one signal to go 4 ways...is that the best way to go?

Not an electro wiz ... so plain english plz ... oh its going in a bus ... so not too much cable...

Cheers

Ok, the simple answer is yes a powered distributor would be the best way to go. Particularly if you are planning to run more than one display at any one time. If only one display was to be run at once you can get away with running a split setup but you will get some deterioration of signal due to units inputs draging the signal quality down. If you actually run two displays at the same time in the split scenaro then you will find that the picture will have some "fuzz" to it as the unit try and "compete" for the source signal. Yes it can be done and has been done before, but the results with the distribution will be far better for both success and useblity. Quality cables that are shielded will also make a remarkable difference. Just dont go to your local kmart and by your standard av cables. You will find the proper shieled ones will make the install more than trouble free.

Cheers

Sounds like firefly has a good idea whats going on - ccc, if you haven't done so already you may want to post a question on caraudioaustralia.com in the forums section;

http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/index.php

You may have to register (no hassle), but there are a lot of very experienced car audio/AV/carputer guys on there.

Cheers
Alan
