sink
Hi i got a sink in my kombi but there is no water tank and there are 2 tubes coming out underneith one comes from the plug hole and the other goes up
to the tap so if i squirt the hose up it water comes out the tap. whats the deal with this should i have a water tank and pump????

There should be a pump tap[you move the tap knob up and down to create the suction]. I assume there sould be a tank either under the floor or under
the sink in the cupboard ???. I have a camper which I'm useing for parts for my twin cab,it has the pump & sink,and the hose to the tap must
just sit in a 20ltr drum or something ????? hope this helps

that type of camper is it? i have a large flat tank that sits beneath the rear seats, holds heaps of water and pumps up to sink by hand. drain just
goes thru floor.

Hmm, will have to take some photos of our setup when I get a chance. Basically the tube coming from your sink should be draining the water out
somewhere. On most original setups this is often out through a hole in the floor. As I didn't want to put a hole through our floor (it had been
re-covered at some stage of its life blocking the hole, I just connect the sink tubing to a longer piece that I can run out of the Kombi door into a
trench or bucket. The tubing from the tap of some setups again goes through the floor and into an external water tank sitting under the Kombi. The tap
setup can be like a manual pump or you can fit an electric pump. I never put the external tank back under the Kombi because I can't be sure of
the internal condition of the tank i.e. is there rust or other contaminents. I got a quote to buy a new stainless steel tank (not fitted) and it was
about $400. The stainless steel was very thin too and looked as though it would cave in pretty easily if you bottomed out on something. Most of the
places we go have a readily accessible water supply only so instead as a backup I have a 35 litre jerry can sitting inside one of our cupboard areas
which I have the tube running from the tap pump into.

A VW wrecker in Adelaide, 'Volksfactory', has several of the fibreglass underfloor tanks from Bay Window kombi campers. They have all the
hose connections, and fit up between the sill and chassis rail, so they don't protrude beneath the vehicle. (They are about 10mm too wide to go
in the same place in my 84 camper). I think they are about 60 litres. I guess any VW wrecker with campers in the yard would have some of these.
