You guys have it good in QLD.

A VASS (Vehicle Assessment Signatory Scheme) engineer will charge between $650-800 to do EJ series engine into VW bus.
Here in Vic :(

Would I be able to get some details on what you did, and what is required? Where did you get the bar, what did you attach to etc.
Any info much appreciated as I'm about to got through the same process ('77 micro bus + late fasty)
Cheers,
Richard

:starhit:I mounted my hook point by drilling a hole in the engine cover
just past the inspection hatch.used the plate & bolt supplied with seat
turned out needed heftier plate & bolt to make it legal ,old mate supplied
he is a authorised modification officer for child restraints might be able to
help with mounting points for a type 3
cheers PAT...........

Dang, I live in conversion heaven! As long as the vehicle is '74 or older there are no inspections, engineering approvals, etc. at all. All you have to do is to meet equipment regulations like 4-wheel brakes, fenders, windshields, etc. that are enforced by traffic cops, not inspectors.. I could run a big block with cable-operated brakes if I wanted to.

It's amazing that the Aussies have so many great conversions up and running, considering the morass of regulations you have to deal with. My hat's off to you.

Mysteriously, we don't seem to have carnage on the highways here as a result of our blatant regulatory anarchy.
