Bonnet adjustment problem - argh!
Well here I am two weekends out from the Nationals, and the circlip that holds the bonnet spring in has popped off. I've managed to get another
circlip, but does anyone know of an easy way to get this fiddly little bugger back on! 
1 measly circlip is stopping me driving my car! I can't believe it. I've thought about hacksawing the pin off and just putting through a
bolt, but really don't want to do that just yet.
Any thoughts?

Remove the spring post and fit the spring to the pin first so you know that it fits properly.... the groove is proberly clogged up with paint.
that way it will remove the paint without too much pressure.
Put a bit of rag down the hole in the 1/4 panel so the clip does fly down there n put some safety glasses on as the clip can fly to your eyes.

Thanks Dave. I'm not sure if I can do that with this model.
It's a 76, so it appears that the member that the pin goes through at the top is welded to the chassis - the pin itself will not push back
through to enable easy inspection.
At the moment it's only held in with the spring at the bottom....so should I undo it from the bottom, but the circlip in at the top, and then
reconnect the spring at the bottom?

OH now i am with you i thought you were talking about a pre 67,,,, well its the same principle... with the 76...
Barry had the same proble i think that he ended up drilling a small hole for a split pin to be fitted.

sqizzy - i aint solved my problem yet 
mine is a 74L
My "solve" at the moment is popping it at the bottom and connecting it at the top. My bonnent is crooked at the moment. I am waiting for
Easter when i think i am going to try and cut the post off or weld a washer on.
For you i would
pop the bottom hinge and get the top on first cause it is harder.
Dont worry "too" much about loosing it down the A pillar cause you should be able to get it from the bottom, peel back the carpet and there
is an access hole
Once you have the top one on get a dirty big screw driver and wedge/force the spring over the post and then put the other clip on.
Hopefully you are talking passenger side cause if not i have no idea cause access looks a real bugger on the driver side. Certainly you would have to
pull the fuel tank.
