the reason i ask is my new ej20 powered bay is sitting at 120deg c on the speco oil gauge, the water temp is between 80 and 90deg c
and the oil on the dip stick is not hot to touch.
should i iginore the speco gauge? or is that normal.

120C or 120F
If 120Deg.C oil temp is too high in normal circumstances.
80 to 90 Deg C is fine for water.

Or slightly below 100, depending upon water purity and altitude.
This never used to make a diffrerence, but these days with accurate digital guages is sometimes does.
