2.2 subaru fitting

Hi, having got a bit further on with my project of fitting a 2.2 subaru legacy motor into my 1968 Bug ive got a few more questions which i hope someone can help me with.
Iwas planning on running 8mm rubber fuel hose the full length of the car but then i wondered if it would cause problems with pressure drop due to the flexing of the rubber. Will it be ok? Also i was planning on using proper coolant rubber hose along the length of the car. Its 32mm bore. Will this be ok? Also ive purchased a 2 litre Ford Capri Radiator with a radiator cap and i was planning on just doing a front fill but then i thought that if i just fill it up there will be no room for expansion and will i be able to get air out the system. I was hoping to do without an expansion bottle for less clutter but is it possible? One last thing, i have got my motor bolted in but the intake manifold is rightup next to the firewall. I aws thinking of cutting a hole in the firewall to let a rubber elbow go through and then putting a second hole in the firewall to bring the filter back into the engine bay. Is there any better way? Any help will be very much appreciated!!!

neggy17,

I have read numerous posts that suggest that the intake can be reversed to face backwards but you would have to relocate the alternator.

Do a search on reversing intake.

For the EJ22 motor, the rubber fuel line will be fine. Fuel injection fuel line must be used as it is high pressure rated.

Water suction hose is good to use as it the walls cant collapse, or alternatively stainless pipe.

Expansion tank is required for the system to operate correctly, and with our bus I added a header tank for water fill up and system bleeding.

Custom Off Road sell a throttle body inverter that turns the throttle body to face backwards.

Hi, ive been in touch with custom off road and i can invert the intake manifold but then ive got to sort the accelerator cable. Has anybody gone this route and is it easy to sort the accelerator cable?

This thread may help. I have pics of my accelerator cable setup, and the throttle body inverter.
