Did you actually drive that on the road?
I know you dont want to hear it, but it would be better if you cut your losses and found a better body.
Fixing that much rust can really suck the life out of you, its hard to keep motivated and its generally a pain in the ass.
Good luck.

Have a look at what the Poms rebuild. That thing is nothing. I wouldn't want to do it but in comparison it's a mild job.

You might even get some ideas if you go to VZI etc.

Good luck.

it must be a nice sentiment behind this rebuild, i understand....

after new aeros, carbon fibre bonnet, decklid and running boards, the roof gets chopped,
new doors(?),front apron(?), detachable rear beaver, and the bottom 4 inches of the car are replaced....

how much BOB will be left?

go for it by all means, but VERY serious thoughts are required before takling such an overhaul.

If it makes you feel better, my EH which I have had for 17 years
has had so much replaced from a couple of rebuilds,
lots of modification and a rollover that only the glovebox lid,
door handles and bootlid are from the original car, but it is still the same car to me.

Actually I have got a couple more that could go down that path.

Helbus (before the custom plate) was a green 75 1800cc microbus.
That got written off in a crash and the new bus received all of the mechanicals.
It was still the same bus to us. Then we got a 2l box, mag wheels,
new interior and now the Subaru motor. I think maybe the towbar
and the front brakes are from the original bus, but it is still the same bus.

The KOC beetle was written off when someone decided to park head on into it.
The only bits from the original KOC are the plates and the windscreen.
But hey we still feel it is our little KOC
