BMW 320 into a Kombi

Hi all, I have a 1979 Kombi 2ltr type 4 a/c motor with only 98000kms from new and as I love the motor I want to swap it to a 1990 320 BMW engine as I can get it for free and only 100,000 on clock. Any one heard of this been done and any sugestions if it can be. In South Africa the most comon conversion is to the golf/rabbit motor or a Toyota Y series as Subaru are very rare and BMW and Volkswagon are produced here cheaply. Any help and advise will be appreciated.

Tim,
Check all your dimensions first to ascertain whether you need to do any cutting or if it will fit at all. Your next hurdle will be the adaptor and flywheel. Kennedy in the US or Volksconversions here in Aus may be able to help. The rest is searching threads on this site and others.

I'm doing a WRX EJ20T into a 71 bay so have a look for the "Surf and Swoosh Project" in this section for photos which will give you an idea of the work involved. Also Hellbus' conversion is very detailed as well.

Regards
Brendan
