People who can't describe! ... Time wasters!
Arghhh! Don't you hate people who waste yr time and fuel!
I've gone to see two "really good" squarebacks. One in Guildford and another in Kellyville.
Both times I was told really well looked after and no rust.
The first, a white one looked like the sunroof had come out of an aquarium. Pen tip could go thru inner guards, engine mounts look like they'll
break if engine started... missing dash!
The second, while better and mechanically pretty good. Had rust in almost every panel.
I wish people would say what it is really like....

good original condition = completely worn out and rusted beyond repair.
-
excellent condition = could be made roadworthy with $5000 repairs.
-
genuin reason for selling = will never be able to register again due to cost of repairs.

my own kombi came with a 'stuffed' engine - needed new oil, and maybe rings soon, and a few holes in the dash - turned out to be temp and
pressure guages and a sony CD with detachable face. the other kombi that i got for free was 99% straight, as new drivers seat, uncut dash and
complete in every way except rear interior and the guy was over the moon to give it away!

When in doubt - check it out. Because you'll never know what you'll find, or what leads may come from the visit to any other
"specials".

An old man once approached me, I had the Ghia in a carpark. Told me he had some 'left-overs' during his VW days (he had a 58) and asked
whether I was interested, he gave me his phone number. I rang him three months later, found an 'NOS' Hazet toolkit, nos cardboard
liner...etc...etc...
Lesson: you just have to go!
A year later a lady asked me if I could swap my 'fake' whitewalled tyres with chrome dress rings/two tone wheels from my Ghia, for a set of
original five-lug Sprintstars. The one's on my Ghia now... sometimes there are happy endings so don't be discouraged. My biggest
disappointment, I sold my original 1963 (from Traralgon Hospital) ambulance with stretchers, drips, the works!for $350.00 in 1997...
Cheers,
