Manx Front bar work
Evenin guys and gurls.
I'm looking for ideas for front bar work for my manx. I don't like what it has at the moment. I know how i want the rear. It's the front i'm
pondering about.
Does anyone have any pics they can share of their bar work or any others they have. Also i guess it is required by QLD to run front bar work isn't
it.
It is going to probably used most of the time on the road but will be used for the beach runs also.
So any pics you guys have i would be greatly appreciated if you could share them.
Thanks in advance
Matt

Thanks for pics so far guys. I'm guessing has to be full width of buggy. Or can i get away with just a centre section ?
Does the bar work have to meet any regs here in good old QLD? Might be daft question.

on the official manx build report i got with my "82 manx it sayssomething like the front bar work must extend far enough to protect the top halves of
the front wheels i will dig it out and quote from it in the near future but thats the jist of it also the rear barwork/cage must be protective of all
moving parts |

have a look at manxclub sight heaps of good pics ahhh one day ill bother to learn to post pics
if you can afford alloy$$$ imo it'd be the way to go volks mod on the gold coast have an awsome buggy with alloy barwork looks sweet works a treat
and doesnt weigh a tonne if you look at it like holding a barweight close to your chest (this is like ova wheels) and then holding it out at full arms
length (this is hanging out over the front) the less weight the better on the sand/mud etc im trying to find out if its legal to have a fuel cell/tank
in the rear and the radiator in the fuel tank pos ova the wheels sorry getting off topic now |

ok ere it is
"it will be necessary for suitably mounted, full width bumper bars to be fitted to your vehicle. front bumper bars are required to provide adequate
protection for the upper half of the front wheels in the event of a forward collision.
it will also be necessary for suitable guarding to be fitted to the rear of the subject vehicle. such guarding is to be of a type which will afford
complete protection from the engine generall, including pulleys belts and the exhaust system."
pls note.
this is a copy of a section of the approval papers for my meyers manx conversion circa 1982 i have provided this as a favour and in no way do i state
that these are compliant with current laws or legislation. |

have you got anything made up yet matt?
what exhaust are u running?
it may be possible to run a full width rear bar with cannons and just a pulley cover for moving parts but no cage work.
on my baja i have the cage off at the moment and am removing all the mesh. i have a chrome cover on my pulley and will be running the same barwork but
without the ugly mesh inbetween.
good thing about an enclosed cage is people cant get into your dissy and things.....and from past experience parking my car in public areas people
like to screw with engines if they can get to them.
